As part of the project, the Open Up UAB team has created six workshops (Nomadic Dance, Fusion Cooking, Body and Power, Opening Up Space for Culture-led Transitions, Transition Dress, and Artistic Research for Transcommunities), which have become a place of encounter, relationships, and movement for diverse bodies and practices (dance, theater, design, thought, gastronomic creation, and fashion).
The project's first outbreak occurred in the year when words such as pandemic, viral load, or telework became part of our daily lives. Three years later, we gather in this exhibition to make it our home and ritual for a few days. Home because it has been specially created to be a space of care and collective encounter. Ritual because in it, we will revisit and recreate gestures, connections, and listening through shared pieces, communal feasts, and three performative activations.
The pieces comprising the exhibition serve as triggers for new creative processes and form a living catalog. All of them have been created with a diasporic intention, designed to be fragmented into multiple parts, resulting in dozens of catalogs. The exhibition will dissipate only to re-appear in as many places as there are beings dispersing, activating, and influencing others. The communal feasts aim to provide a space of pleasure and temporal expansion for collective inhabitation of EINA BOSC.
During the performative activations, we will engage our bodies and maintain our tongues. How can we connect with one another joyfully without necessarily sharing a common language? We have explored various ways to establish connections through losing, loving, enjoying, weaving, dancing, eating, playing, connecting, and moving with Tania Adams, Bárbara Bayarri, Mad Beats Co., Daniela Callejas, Fiona Capdevila, Andrea Soto Calderón, and Shulliana. EINA transforms into a hub of creation on May 3rd, 4th, and 5th to host the exhibition "Migrant Practices, Bodies, and Relations," a project from CreativeEurope's Open Up initiative."
